Mises Academy

I was hoping this was part of the new and exciting stuff for this year.

Welcome to the Mises Academy, a soon-to-be-open service of the Ludwig von Mises Institute. This online academy offers complete tutorials from professors working with the Mises Institute on a variety of projects. Each class has distinctive properties. They range from one week to one year in duration. Class media includes forums, readings, video and audio, a complete curriculum, study questions, online quizzes in a variety of formats and more.

Students will receive feedback and grading, and have access to blogs and class-specific forums, providing plenty of opportunities to interact with the professor and get to know fellow students. Papers can be uploaded, corrected and commented upon. Students have full, permanent access to their records.

We hope to build this into a full-blown academy for not only economics but also for law, history, and philosophy, adding courses on an ongoing basis. A complete support staff is here to help you.

I am wondering that too. Since I am in business for myself, I don’t have to worry about having degrees. This has to be a concern for others, even though the price right now seems cheaper than most in-state community college fees.

I am really anxious to see how it all plays out. Kinsella’s IP course disappeared this morning but there is this from the blog:

Now that we’ve released this Academy for the first time, we should add that we have at least 50 courses in preparation, in all areas of the social sciences, to be unveiled as we move forward through the first months and the first course. The future is very broad, ambitious, and bright.

I just saw this on facebook, but if you read the real Mises blog, you will see that it hasn’t been officially announced.

Mises University are also classes that people payed for. The point is that if these guys are going to give lectures it would be a waste if those weren’t publicly available. The added value for the payment comes in the form of being able to interact and by taking tests/doing assignments for certification.
