The Next President

Who do you think its gonna be? Clinton? McCain? Obama? Perhaps the Dark Horse Ron Paul?

My bet would be on McCain. Clinton is pretty much out of the race and Obama seems quite vulnerable. Also, he’s in an akward position of having a large part of his support coming from anti-war folks, but he himself is far from anti-war. I suspect his numbers will come down since he has to start moving to the center now that the primaries are more or less over.

I don’t really know who I’d like to win. McCain will probably be a bigger disaster than Bush. Obama will take the US further to socialism, but that could be good. Due to the corruption of the US political system, any attempt at socialized medicine will end in disaster more splendidly than it has in Europe and just might discredit the statists within the US. And, just maybe, clear the way for free market solutions. But it is far-fetched, I guess.

Intrade says Obama is the most likely winner followed by McCain. Hillary doesn’t really have much of a chance.

I think there is a slim chance that Hilary could steal it from Obama simply because she is a Clinton. However, I think that Obama will win the presidency, plunging the nation deeper into socialism. McCain is just a war pig, and I think that for the most part the country doesnt want another Bush (Except McCain would be far worse). I am not saying Obama is not a warmonger (he is too, they all are) but most of the country probably believes he will pull the troops out of Iraq and hijack the economy, propelling us into a state of comradeship, and prosperity. (The American population is very naive and ignorant). Either way, this country is headed down the tubes.

edit: typo

How is Obama a warmongerer? Evidence? I am not saying that he is not, just curious as to the evidence that supports that.

Obama does have charisma. Charismatic people scare me because of the power they have over people. Regardless if an arguement is logical or not, the charismatic person will most likely win over the population, unfortunately. I bet if Obama said that eating shit was healthy, people would do it.

Look up his plan for managing the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He doesn’t actually want to pull all the troops out of Iraq. And he wants to put more troops into Afghanistan. I have no idea why his supporters are bypassing these things and keep insisting Obama is somehow anti-war.

Obama can’t win. He has too many close ties with too many radical anti-American leftists (William Ayers!?). I listen to conservative talk-radio, and WOW they are going to pounce on this guy if he gets the nomination.

The next president will be the moderate-leftist McCain. Considering Obama is in NO WAY the anti-war candidate, McCain is Obama-light.

As a side note: has anyone else noticed how many Ron Paul supporters jumped ship – to Obama??? What the HELL!?

Being one of the minority of the Leftists who was offically converted by the RP campaign to the libertarian namesake (officially meaning I would declare myself in public as libertarian), and actually stayed as such, I can tell you this is no big surprise at all, as most of the individuals over at the RP forums (and in general), whom support RP, were jaded Leftists without a popular anto-war candidate.

Kucinich, despite being a man of principle (and when it comes to socialism, some wrong principles), doesn’t count, as he didn’t get nearly the amount of coverage (however mostly biased) RP got.

So yeah, the idiot RP supporters who jumped ship to Obama are either the same mainstream incremendalists who excuse statism because it’s in smaller doses (lesser of evils), or are just going back to their true statist colors.

To their credit though, RP was not nearly organized enough to really make difference except for monetarily, and even then, the 30 mill he raised was mostly by his supporters.

I didn’t really see a choice for any Paul supporters after he dropped out so that doesn’t really shock me.

If McCain won that would be a trainwreck. I’m praying he doesn’t.

Why would any supporter of a capitalist candidate support a socialist!?

Even if they were purely supporting Ron Paul because of his anti-war views (which I find silly), Obama is just as much of a hawk as McCain (and he’ll probably be more of a hawk just to prove he’s not “soft on national security”).

Very true. Although, the neocons dont have anybody in the race still, so they will roast whoever gets the nomination and ultimately the presidency. (Either Hilary Obama or McCain)

Edit: P.S. It was already explained by somebody above that Obama is hardly an anti-war candidate therefore, I will not go into it in order to avoid redundancy.

I have noticed Clinton supporters jumping ship for Obama. But I think it is the bandwagon effect on that one.

As for RP supporters jumping ship for Obama, it does surprise me. But I would conjecture it is the lesser of 2 evils arguement from their point of view. I recall Ron Paul Girl saying vote for Ron Paul, and if he doesn’t make it, jump to Obama. Perhaps an Obama marketing gimmick?

However in the long scheme of things, I do not think the American people understand how the system works. In reality, it is still anyones game until after the convention. Even a no namer can get nomination. I think RP still has some tricks up his sleeve.

On a side note, I don’t even think that “socialists” know they are being socialists, or even understand what socialism is.

As sastisfying it would be to see RP somehow get the nomination with a rope-a-dope strategy, I honestly don’t see it hapenning. Although, I do see some either positive coverage or controversey erupting from the March on Washington D.C. the RP supporters have been planning. Then again, as proven time & time again this election, a lot can happen between now & november.

I don’t like McCain because he’s a warmonger like Bush. I don’t like Clinton because shes a Clinton and a socialist. And I don’t like Obama because he’s a socialist and attends a Black supremacist church. Of course Clinton and Obama are both pro-war they just don’t publicly state it. But at least their telling me what I want to hear and might not be quite as bellicose as McCain. Clinton and Obama seem to be more concerned about what popular opinion is and not doing what they think is right. So if they were considering going to war and enough of the public was against it they might back down.

So I guess if I had to choose I’d rather have Clinton over Obama or McCain. Atleast shes not a Black supremacist and goes to a church where they claim that AIDS was created by White people to kill off the Blacks. Which doens’t even make sense. Not that I would vote for any of them anyhow. This post was purely hyopthetical. I plan on “throwing away my vote” on a third party candidate.

I don’t think McCain can get it, though he might get close. Bush has destroyed the Republican base and nearly neutered the party. I live in a county in Texas that hasn’t seen a Democractic party in nearly 20 years and because of Bush the Dems have resurrected it. Many of those who are now part of the Hood County Democratic party were once Republicans who have gotten sick of Bush. I think it will come down to Obama but really the DNC might go with a compromise candidate. There is talk of nominating Al Gore and having either Clinton or Obama serve as his VP.

I just hope Ron Paul will seek the Libertarian Party nomination. If Paul ran on an LP ticket it would boost membership in the LP as well as recognition. If he ran on the LP ticket it just might turn it into a viable third party that can win elections.

Only problem is that the LP is being invaded by libertines like Gravel and corporatists like Barr. They will tar and feather what little visibility the LP initially had.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Gravel was a plant by the Greens to eliminate the LP and put the Greens as the ‘third option’… [:)]

Obama is the most popular I think, but he is vulnerable to direct or indirect (I think indirect) propaganda targeting racial prejudice or prejudice against Muslims. He isn’t Muslim but his name is - just think about an anti-Obama TV ad: “Barak Hussain Obama - the right choice for America?” - he can be very vulnerable to that.

McCain is popular too which is a mystery to me - he was more or less the only candidate who is equally hated by the Somewhat Libertarian / Smaller Government wing of the Republican Party and the Social Conservative / Religious Right wing. How he got nominated is a mystery to me.

Gravel doesn’t really stand a chance, as far as I can tell. I’d say that as of now, the race is between the electable Barr and the purist Ruwart. I don’t think Gravel is a plant though, he’s just probably a cook.

I dont understand how people can honestly back Obama. I mean he is a good public speaker, but so was Hitler. I dont get what is so special about him. Like BWF89 said, he is a black supremacist and a socialist. On the other hand you have seriously have the spawn of satan in Hilary. She is Obama without the charisma and racist idealogy. Finally, if you take the absolute worst traits of the republican party (Imperialism, reduction of civil liberties) and the worst traits of the democrat party (socialism, state sponsored-everything, you get John McCain.

Sounds like the only choice for someone who actually likes freedom (It seems hard to find these people nowadays)
