Are the people who say “we have to have government or civilization will fail”, similar to those people who said “the Earth has to be flat”? And if you believe anything else, you’re not only wrong, but you’re a danger to society?
I would say so. Logic dictates that government is unnecessary. For people to not question the shape of the earth and instead assert that it was flat is pretty illogical.

it makes no sense. Government is human “invention”. Earth’s “roundness” is not, it just a fact. I mean, there is nothing about logic that could say that Earth is round or flat. It’s empirical statement. Speaking of government, it’s kinda both. I don’t know, just quick opinion. Feel free to debunk.
Only illiterates ever thought the Earth was flat. Ptolemaic astronomy described the Earth and all the other planets as spheres… It just assumed that Earth was at the centre of what we now know is the solar system. It wasn’t a universally accepted theory… I think Epicurus was one who theorised that the Earth actually went around the Sun.

A functioning economy needs slavery
We need to enforce religeon on people or else they will become godless barbarians
We have to force down wages or else poor people will become lazy and not want to work (an actual argument used by the mercantilists)
Women are too stupid to be allowed equal rights, the family structure will come crashing down.
Blacks need to be controlled or else they will rape and pillage.
People can’t be allowed to drink because it’s so immoral!
THESE ARE ARGUMENTS STATISTS HAVE ACTUALLY MADE AND BEEN WILLING TO KILL PEOPLE OVER!
Common denominator: More opression stops people from doing bad things/they have been proven empirically wrong/people laugh at anyone who says these things today.
