What kind of music do Austrians listen to?

Not really capitalist but one of my favorites. MC5

Usually post-hardcore/ melodic metalcore. Lately downtempo has been my thing. This is what I’m listening to now:

I’ve been really into this band recently:

They’re sort of progressive metal, I suppose.

In before Jeffrey Tucker denounces heavy metal!

Love me some MC5. Been listening to a lot of Ornette Coleman (free jazz), Hank Williams (country), Junior Kimbrough (blues) and John Zorn (free jazz/experimental). My avatar is of Jeffrey Lee Pierce, the leadman of the Gun Club, a country/blues/punk band.

I’ve always been into country, though since I’ve stopped being a party-line Republican I’ve had to strike a few particularly jingoistic songs from my playlist.

Country. Either I listen to my local station or I listen to WZZK Birmingham online.

Ornette Coleman is brilliant!

Jazz, anything with synths but not too heavy (techno is cheesy and bleh), indie, folk, grunge (definitely not post-grunge), classic country, and good metal.

Metal, hardcore, random other stuff, and acoustic.

In the mood for acoustic right now.

Underoath eh? Good stuff Brian, one of my favorite bands. Reinventing your exit is my fave song.

Definitely! I couldn’t decide whether to put a song from They’re Only Chasing Safety, but I just went with the newer one. What do you think of Ø?

Debussy preludes and Beethoven sonatas

Can’t forget about this guy. Brilliant.

God I want that Steve Vai Jem.

This is my cup of tea lately

I mainly listen to Blues (except for SRV and his ilk) and Dixieland Jazz.

When I was in Vienna, all the kids were listening to Beastie Boys.

Austria was a very a metal country, from what I remember when I visited.

Lately (and as always): Agalloch, Nature & Organisation, Sol Invictus, Boyd Rice, Forseti, Blood Axis, and Death in June. Other than that 80’s hardcore and post-punk.

Try the soundtrack masterpiece called Garibaldi Temple.

Metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDbNFHq9oH8
