Even though I think you intended your statement to be sarcastic and patronizing, one can tell the difference between Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Hmong, Filipino, Vietnamese, etc. I’m sure the same can be applied to blacks and which sub-race they fall under just like whites.
I wasn’t being sarcastic nor patronizing. At school, I usually can’t tell the different between Chinese person and a Korean, but the Koreans always know who’s Korean and who’s not Korean. You bring up a good point about blacks. I’m sure it’s easier for Ugandans to spot Ugandans than it is for an American to tell the difference between an Ugandan and a Kenyan. Same goes for Latin Americans. Most Mexicans can tell the difference between a Mexican and a Salvadorian, but most Americans can’t. Likewise for Europeans. Btw, wouldn’t you have been able to identify Scarlett Johansson as of Jewish decent? If so, what gave it away?

It fascinates me to no end when right wingers/libertarians get overly concerned with genetics for almost no good reason other than aesthetics/ reactionary concernes. Honestly, why bother. Anyway that is my last word on the “The Jewish Question” , It is a non sense pop culture question with no answer. It is very amusing how avid and coy people get on trying to ask and find the answer though. Relics of 19th century hipster intellectualism.
Most people can tell the differences within their own race of different sub-races, but also I don’t know much about other races to indentify sub-races in that race. I’d be more able to tell the difference between someone whos Russian, Italian, Irish, Swedish, etc. I can’t pick everyone out, and I probably wouldn’t have been able to pick out Scarlett Johansson. For someone like Robert Downey Jr. I had to look it up, and he’s a mixture of Irish, Russian Jewish, German, and Scottish descent, which makes it harder, because it could be equally distributed. With someone like Jon Favreau I got into a debate with my girlfriend over his ethnicity, and I claimed he was Italian, and she claimed he was Jewish. I find out his mother is Jewish and his father is Italian. Go figure. I’m just trying to state there are racial differences, and they can be pointed out on physical appearance, and it is in the DNA. It’s not a hard concept to grasp, and it doesn’t make you a racist or neo-Nazi (or whatever smear to throw out there) if you accept this. I just think it’s ludicrous for people to argue against this, as if we are all the same, and our genetic features just sort of come out of nowhere and can’t be explained.

The question is proposed as if I was argueing on the basis of Semites as a whole, but if you want me to define origins Semite is a blanket term over a group of languages and people, the Jews fall under this blanket term, which are those who descended from the Israelites. I don’t agree with the usage of Semitic to equate with Jew, so I don’t use it. I hope this clarifies things.
