The two ads are selling very different things. The American one is selling the feeling of pride and courage within the soldier–excuse me Marine™–, while the Swedish ad is selling the helping of others so that they can have lives like the Swedes. Perhaps this is why American military is very righteous and probably the most dangerous–they believe they are doing what is righteous and it’s all about how they feel. Whereas, the Swedes are trying to stop violence in other places, but there’s actually hope that they would realize that their attempts are futile because the Americans are over there causing the whole mess.

I love the way the woman asking about neckties is portrayed as curious and confused, as opposed to snappy and sarcastic, like the person who actually said that.
