Thank god Obama beat McCain... (its late I know, but catch the fever)

Can you imagine how bad the political sphere would look if McCain had won?

On the other hand, I can’t help but think that at least some of the left-wing analysts who are currently singing the praises of TARP would be singing a different tune had John McCain won the election. We can’t know what would have happened in that alternate timeline, but I’m guessing many of these progressive bloggers would have excoriated the Republican bailouts of their fat-cat banker friends. (In fairness, Matt Yglesias and Paul Krugman have been consistent — they were for TARP, with caveats, from the beginning!)

The republican party’s image is already smeared. No one apologises for Bush any more. You don’t have to argue with (reasonable) people that he simply serves the military industrial complex and pharmaceutical companies. Now, instead of cementing republican failure in the minds of the public with equally abysmal McCain policies, we have Obama as an example of democratic failure.

Thank god!

If Republicans were in office screwing things up, people would simply believe that the Democrats could do better. Half of America would have a “it was better under Clinton” fallback political philosophy. How much EASIER this is for the liberty movement. That no one believes in Bush and Obama, the sacred cow and holy child of the democratic party, is also failing!

Does anyone else feel this way? Or would it have been better to have a double-failure for the republicans…

The night of the 2008 election I put as my status on facebook: “McCain’s loss only gives more hope to Ron Paul Republicans in 2012”. That’s at least more likely to become true than if Obama had lost, so I’d have to say I agree with you that it’s good Obama beat RINO McCain.

Plus, I look logical because I successfully predicted Obama would turn out to be the same as Bush, despite many people having hope for him. I knew what Obama’s plan was to a tee. Before he was even elected, I predicted the cost of the Iraq occupation would go up under him. Too bad too few didn’t listen.
