I listen to Hard Rock and a little bit Heavy Metal. My music tastes shaped in early childhood - perhaps, when I was 8-9 years. That time I examined my father’s tapes collection. Occasionally, the first tape was Scorpions, that I really loved (I could listen to Wind of Change for hours). Then I discovered Def Leppard (Pyromania and Hysteria albums) and, finally, Accept. So, these are my 3 best rock bands. The reason why I prefer mostly old school of rock is that I don’t like contemporary pop music and most bands that play “alternative”.
Of course, my music experience is not confined to these bands. My music collection on HDD comprises dozens of artists. Other bands that I could claim to be my favourite ones are Nightwish, The Beatles, Rammstein, Blackmore’s Night, MSG, Blind Guardian, Dire Straits, a-ha, and others.

I think he ended up showing a latent mental illness (bipolar or something), that got him in trouble. Great bass player though. Wooten is aesome too (look up his Norweigen Wood cover on youtube). Cool he grew up in your hood. Deal grew up in mine.
Those two are probably the best electric Jazz Bass Players, Fav Jazz Bassists though would be Mingus and Ron Carter who were strictly upright. Than again Mingus is one of my favorite people. He is a better composer than Debussey I think.

On Saturday I auditioned for American Idiot with Fade Away - Oasis. It seemed like a similar theme.
Jaco is still one of my favs, there;s no denying his ingenuity and passion. I recorded a Dixie Dregs show back around 1982 in which Jaco crashed onto the stage, full of ego and probably full of cocaine, he played with Steve and co. for a bit then left. Sadly the recording was stolen outta the high school parking lot months later.
Jeff Beck has this young lady platin bass with him now, forget her name but she’s a hot player on the fretless electric and she’s cute to boot. MIchael Hedges had a great bassist accompanying him, again I’m bad with names … lol … but he had a very unique looking electric bass, very heavy and solid looking and sounding, wonder where he is now?.

I saw that you mention Manring and was about to post the same exact link. Anyone listen to Bill Frissel? (Mind you he usually plays very melodic jazz, but he shows his variety of styles here, he’s even played thrash)

Never heard of Frissel, seemd cool. I have some friends who swear by Morphine (2 String slide bass?) but for no good reason I never really think about them. I don’t think I own anything by them, which is weird.

I know Stephan Kinsella is a Rush fan, as am I. Rush is the quintessential libertarian band IMO.

My former boss in my company is a huge Rush fan, and he borrowed me the live in Rio, which is quite good. But I don’t like their sound of their 80s records, so I didn’t look into any other records now. But if they are also interesting from a libertarian standpoint I will have to take another look. Thanks.
